REPORTER VIRUS TECHNOLOGY

Application Notes

Reporter Viruses (RVPs)
Reporter Virus Particles (RVPs) are infectious but replication-incompetent virus particles that express a convenient reporter gene upon infection of a cell. RVPs produced at Integral Molecular are safe for routine laboratory use, and permit rapid and quantitative measurements of viral infectivity. RVPs are compatible with microplate assay formats and are ideal for high-throughput applications. Integral Molecular currently offers Reporter Virus Particles for all four Dengue serotypes and will soon offer additional RVPs for other well studied viruses.

Dengue RVPs

Dengue RVPs contain strain-specific antigenic determinants including Capsid, prM, and Envelope proteins of wild-type Dengue virions. Dengue RVPs are engineered to express a luciferase reporter gene to objectively measure Dengue infectivity using standard detection systems. Dengue RVPs provide a reliable platform for rapidly screening human serum for both neutralizing and enhancing antibodies against Dengue, and are ideal for screening serum from vaccine trials and epidemiological surveys. Additionally, RVPs can be used in studies of viral entry and assembly.

Advantages of Dengue Reporter Virus Particles

  • Dengue RVPs offer a stable and safe source of infectious Dengue virus
  • Infectivity using Dengue RVPs can be conveniently and objectively quantified
  • Dengue RVPs can be used in standard microplate formats and are amenable to high-throughput studies
  • Dengue RVPs offer an alternative, more rapid technology for Dengue neutralization assays
